Gianluca Amitrano
The interior design project by Gianluca Amitrano is for the home of a young couple at Meta, a small seaside town on the Sorrento peninsula, with a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples. Minimalist and dominated by white, the apartment features surprising use of decor on the walls of the “utility” rooms, intentionally evoking the Vietri majolica ware tradition, the surrounding landscape and the teaching of Gio Ponti. The choice of the Scenario range from the Marazzi Crogiolo collection proved decisive. In fact, this series has strong links to tradition, because it belongs to the Modena company’s historic archive and because the brush-strokes of colour on its surface reproduce the hand-crafted air of Vietri majolica ware and reference the white and blue of the seaside landscape.
However, above all Scenario enables the interior designer to create hundreds of different layouts using a single stoneware tile in the 20 x 20 cm size, in natural/matt finishes, with 25 to 50 patterns, in white, black and blue colours.
In a schema designed by the architect specifically for this project, the two bathrooms of the M2 Home were decorated with Scenario Tappeto 1 Blu and Scenario Decoro Mix Blu, while the kitchen is characterised by a complex composition that combines solid colour with a sequence of shades that reference the colours of the sky and sea.
