Inaugurated on 30 June 2012, DB HOTEL Verona Airport and Congress is a new business tourism centre located next to the Verona's Catullo Airport, with 54 rooms, restaurant, wellness area, terrace and solarium, three congress halls, bar and underground parking. The interior design, by Ariberto Colombo, focuses attention on the circular stairway with central panoramic elevator; this dynamic and characteristic architectonic feature leads off to the restaurant, wellness centre and gymnasium in the underground floor; the hall, congress centre and bar on the ground floor; the terrace and solarium on the first floor and the residential block on three floors. The nearby airport suggested the visual theme for the interior: the foyer and hall have been decorated with two large graphic compositions showing planes in flight, a set of photographs printed on a stretched metallic surface using dye sublimation, to highlight the facility's close relationship to the airport, almost as if departures and arrivals were inside the hotel itself; the corridors and rooms are also decorated with works featuring planes and airports, unique paintings designed specifically for the project. The design philosophy is based on simplicity, sobriety and the functionality of the interiors' various uses; the materials employed also reflect this - all choices have been made to give the interior a welcoming and contemporary look.
