Elisa Alice Bianchi, founder of the La Bia studio, worked with her team on the design and construction of a renovation project for an apartment in Milan. The new layout, centred on comfort, and the careful selection of surface finishes achieved the style and scale the owners desired.
The success of a renovation begins with excellent initial design, focusing not merely on gaining 'more space' but on tailoring the home to the needs of its inhabitants.
Efficient spatial planning, optimal light distribution, harmony between the living and sleeping zones, and provision for a pantry or dressing room are combined with meticulous attention to detail, making everyday life extraordinary and truly making us feel 'at home'.
These are the elements of the concept for the renovation of a Milan apartment designed by Elisa Alice Bianchi and her studio La Bia. An entity that brings together various professional disciplines, enabling it to extend beyond interior design to also encompass project management, energy assessment and optimisation, through to site supervision.
‘A turnkey service which the studio has also provided for this urban residence,’ confirmed architect Bianchi, ‘The studio undertook a renovation that optimised the spatial arrangement, preserving its original spaciousness while adjusting the proportions of the rooms to enhance functionality, thereby permitting the inclusion of ample furnishings in every space.’
The vast majority of the white furnishings establish a natural harmony through the uniformity of the flooring surfaces; porcelain stoneware planks from the Treverkview collection, inspired by oak, have been laid throughout all the rooms, presented here in a warm and luminous Honey hue.
The bathrooms have been entirely reimagined to optimise spatial utilisation.
The master bathroom, featuring a recessed shower and sliding doors, has been clad in the Crogiolo Lume collection, in a rectangular 6x24 cm format, finished in Blue.
The intense colour and the ‘handmade’ aesthetic of the highly glossy and imperfect tiles uniquely capture and reflect natural light.
The flooring in cement-effect porcelain stoneware from the Plaster collection, in grey and sized 60x120 cm, completes the shower area with a concealed drain and extends onto the walls in the soft and luminous shade of Butter paint.
“Functional choices and a striking mix-and-match achieved through the Marazzi surface collections have allowed this Milanese apartment to attain the style and scale desired by the owners,” concluded Elisa Alice Bianchi, founder of the La Bia studio.
