A perfect combination of tradition and innovation in a comfortable, refined home
Cisternino (Brindisi, Italy), in the heart of the Itria Valley, is the location of Casa Fantina, a complex of traditional “trulli” and “lamie” stone-built houses that provides the perfect blend of the historic and the innovative. This fascinating renovation project by Mara Prezioso aims to revitalise an old childhood home by combining the architectural features of the ancient “trullo” dwellings with modern functional strategies, to create a comfortable home suitable for contemporary daily life.
The choice of materials was fundamental for the project’s success. Mara Prezioso opted for Marazzi ceramic coverings – to be specific, Mystone Limestone stone-effect porcelain stoneware in the gleaming Ivory colour – for the floors of the entire home. This product was chosen for its efficacy in emphasising the contrast between the rough-hewn stones of the “trulli” buildings and the modernity of the interiors. With its warm, natural shades, the Mystone Limestone collection combines to perfection with the stone walls and wooden features to create a comfortable, refined ambience.
Every detail was carefully chosen to ensure that nothing was left to chance. The lighting was designed to show the spaces to best effect and create an intimate, relaxing mood, while the furniture is both stylish and functional, making every room a pleasure to live in.
