Dialogue with local communities is a cornerstone of our social sustainability. Our sites are open spaces of connection, where we collaborate with schools, associations, institutions, and customers to promote culture and participation. Through these projects, we enhance art, beauty, and the identity of the ceramic district, contributing concretely to the social and cultural development of the area.
Spaces and Urban Regeneration
The Marazzi Linear Park: a new green space connecting city and industry
As part of our commitment to enhancing urban spaces, the Marazzi Linear Park represents an intervention capable of renewing the relationship between one of the company’s historic facilities and the neighborhood, opening new scenarios for dialogue between nature, city, and industry.
Part of the Cuore Verde masterplan, the project redesigns the boundary of the Marazzi plant on Via Ancora in Sassuolo, transforming the old perimeter wall into a wide green diaphragm. The new landscape, composed of different layers of vegetation, unfolds along the road, creating an evolving environment that accompanies the urban path and opens new visual perspectives toward the neighborhood.
Punctuating this natural sequence are installations in large ceramic slabs, designed to interact with the community and highlight the expressive power of the material. Among them, a space dedicated to Luigi Ghirri pays tribute to his iconic photographs created for Marazzi, weaving together art, memory, and local identity. The result is a new public space that unites nature, ceramics, and industrial history, transforming a boundary into a place of encounter, connection, and shared quality.
Restoration of the Clock Tower
Continuing our commitment to caring for symbolic places in the region, the restoration of the Clock Tower confirms our dedication to safeguarding Sassuolo’s architectural and cultural heritage.
The restoration, carried out by the Municipality of Sassuolo with the contribution of Marazzi Group, concerns an architectural landmark that has become a symbol of the city: “Il Campanone,” built between 1676 and 1680 based on the design of the ducal architect Antonio Loraghi. The tower characterizes the central Piazza Garibaldi, a place of markets, conferences, performances, and community events.
Over the years, the tower has undergone various interventions, including restoration works in the 1980s, when Marazzi donated the ceramic clock face. The company’s connection with Piazza Garibaldi runs deep: the historic Marazzi family’s Drogheria was also located here, a memory still vivid within the community.
Marazzi and Drogheria Roteglia: a renewed historical bond
With the renovation of the tasting room of the historic Drogheria Roteglia in Piazza Garibaldi in Sassuolo, Marazzi strengthens a connection dating back to the late 19th century, when Filippo – the company’s founder – and his brother Umberto Marazzi managed the family’s grocery and distillery right here. The intervention enhances this shared history and returns a renewed symbolic space to the city, in continuity with the company’s recent commitments to restoring the square and the civic tower.
For the renovation, the Crogiolo Terramater collection was chosen, made with Italian red clay and recycled materials, merging ceramic tradition, contemporary design, and sustainability. The renewed spaces recount the memory of the place through photographs, historical documents, and ceramic elements recalling the early activities of the Marazzi family.
Community, Culture and Participation
Crogiolo, our space open to the community
Among the spaces that connect business and city, the Crogiolo continues to be a vibrant place, a social laboratory where participation and dialogue intertwine in concrete ways. A historical reference point of the first Marazzi industrial site in the 1930s, it became in the 1980s both a brand and the headquarters of the Marazzi “Experiments,” where designers, artists, and ceramists were invited to explore new possibilities with ceramics.
Today, the Crogiolo is a multifunctional space that, since 2017, has hosted the cultural season of the Municipality of Sassuolo, welcoming free events open to the community. Since 2017, a total of 106 initiatives have been organized, with over 4,600 attendees in 2025, confirming the Crogiolo as a shared place where business, institutions, and citizens build relationships and common value. Alongside cultural initiatives, the Crogiolo supports schools and associations with active citizenship projects.
Buongiorno Ceramica: Marazzi opens its doors to the city
As part of Buongiorno Ceramica! 2025, the national event promoted by AiCC – the Italian Association of Ceramic Cities – celebrating the artistic and artisanal value of ceramics, Marazzi Group opened the Sassuolo showroom to the public for a day dedicated to the community and to discovering the know‑how of the district.
The special opening, part of the calendar of events organized by the Municipality of Sassuolo, allowed visitors to tour the Marazzi showroom and take part in the “Welcome to Marazzi for Kids” workshop, engaging children and families in an interactive experience designed to introduce even the youngest to the world of ceramics.
The “80 Events for 80 Years” program by Centro Sportivo Italiano – Modena Committee
The “80 Events for 80 Years” program by the Italian Sports Center – Modena Committee celebrates the organization’s anniversary with a rich calendar of sports, educational, and cultural activities dedicated to young people, families, and local associations.
Among the most significant initiatives is the Run4Care, dedicated to healthcare professionals and linked to the regional campaign “More Care for Those Who Care,” created to recognize the daily commitment of health workers and to promote a culture of care and respect. The program also includes initiatives on gender equality in sports and a hackathon on innovation and the future. Marazzi Group’s contribution confirms the company’s attention to the community and to the values of participation and active citizenship promoted by CSI Modena.
Marazzi Group partner of the Nuovo Cinema Corso in Finale Emilia
Marazzi Group supported the 2024/2025 theater season of the Nuovo Cinema Corso in Finale Emilia, an important cultural reference point for the local community.
Inaugurated in 2021 after a complete renovation, the Nuovo Cinema Corso reopened its doors 17 years after its closure, becoming an example of urban redevelopment in the heart of Finale Emilia. Today, the cinema is much more than an entertainment venue: it is a space dedicated to culture and community engagement, hosting not only film screenings but also conferences, exhibitions, and public events aimed at enriching the local area.
Youth, Education and Social Inclusion
Training and Guidance for New Generations
Our relationship with schools and young people is one of the pillars of our commitment to the local area. With programs such as the Marazzi Dual Academy, we offer students from the “Alessandro Volta” High School in Sassuolo the opportunity to complement their academic education with real workplace experience.
Between 2023 and 2025, 104 students took part in the program, gaining direct exposure to the skills and expertise of the ceramic district. In 2025, an additional 50 high school students completed school‑to‑work transition programs, contributing to real projects in IT, Customer Service, Marketing, and Logistics.
These activities are supported by the “Welcome to Marazzi for Kids & Schools” programs, which involved over 1,700 primary and secondary school students between 2023 and 2025 through workshops and insights into the ceramic production process and sustainability.
A renovated theater for the ‘Francesco Ruini’ Middle School
Our commitment to the community and schools also translated into supporting the renovation of the theater at the “F. Ruini” lower secondary school in Sassuolo, where Marazzi has been operating since 1935. The project involved Marazzi supplying materials for the new flooring, enabling the school and the community to once again enjoy a welcoming and fully functional space for educational activities, cultural events, and gatherings among students, teachers, and families.
A new green area for the ‘Walt Disney’ Nursery School
In the garden of the Walt Disney Nursery School, we have created a new green area designed to improve the quality and usability of outdoor spaces. The intervention includes a vegetative fence over 180 meters long and the planting of 200 new plants and tree rows, with the aim of creating a more natural and protected perimeter suitable for children’s outdoor activities. Through this redevelopment, we contributed to enhancing educational spaces and strengthening the urban greenery of the neighborhood, reinforcing the bond between school and community.
A shared commitment to the territory: the Hostel for Autonomy
Marazzi Group contributed to the redevelopment of the Hostel for Autonomy, a facility created in Modena through a public‑private partnership and dedicated to supporting workers experiencing housing difficulties.
Managed by Porta Aperta – a key organization providing services such as meals, shelter, social support, and employment inclusion for people in need – the hostel offers temporary accommodation aimed at supporting pathways toward independence. The renovation of the building has made available 20 beds, a kitchen, services, and common areas, helping guests move toward stable housing solutions.
