The most impressive use of porcelain stoneware in pop-style architecture is at Primrose Hill, in London. Commissioned by Capitol Designer Studio, Lily Jencks and Nathanael Dorent, creators of Pulsate, transformed a traditional tile retailing showroom into a cultural hub, “pulsing” with creativity. The project, rooted in Op Art and Gestalt, makes clever use of amplified perception, with a sloping floor and benches integrated in the structure. Crucial in generating the disconcerting effect of this skilful play on geometrical forms is the use of the SistemN collection, installed in a herringbone pattern in an unbroken sequence on floors and walls, in a single size replicated in four graduated colours and in three dimensions. Eco-aware and high-performing, this double loading fine porcelain / double-filled porcelain excels in its refined range of twelve colours and its assortment of 14 sizes.
