Terratech: clay and earth inspire a high-tech stoneware collection
reading time: 3 minutes

When contemporary coverings pay homage to the most ancient construction materials.
Earth and clay, used as building materials in architecture throughout history, become the main inspiration for the texture of Terratech, a collection of indoor and outdoor porcelain stoneware tiles with high technical and design content.
Terratech's surface is achieved using two technologies that improve its quality and appearance: Bodyplus, in which chips are added throughout the body mix to give the tile a more natural appearance, and StepWise™, able to create coverings that are soft to the touch, easy to clean and extremely slip-resistant, although without roughness.
The collection consists of seven dusty shades, four of them warm – Avorio, Cannella, Senape and Vinaccia – and three cold – Polvere, Salvia and Grafite, and a concrete-look in line with the very latest trends. There are four sizes available – 75x150 cm, 75x75 cm, 60x60 cm and 30x60 cm –, all rectified and medium-large, to enable the reduction of joints to a minimum, for uniform floorings in both residential interiors and contract locations.
The collection is also ideal for outdoor coverings thanks to two versions with a rougher surface, available in the 75x75 cm and 30x60 cm sizes.
Apart from these sizes, Terratech also offers a series of stoneware mosaics that enhance this collection's design potentials:
- Modulo is a two-tone ribbed mosaic (available in cold and warm version) inspired by the work of Belgian collective Brut, consisting of two modules A and B, for installation individually or together, to create a pleated effect.
- Classico is the standard 30x30 mosaic with 5 mm chips, available in all 7 Terratech colours.
- 3D is a mosaic produced by cutting and assembling 4 pieces of different sizes, to obtain a three-dimensional effect: the result is a square with sides 28.5 cm long, available in the 7 colour variants.
- Frame is also created by cutting 6 chips, in this case rectangular and unevenly shaped, to make up a module of 36.2 cm. Available in all Terratech, colours, it can be grouted in contrasting shades for unusual, characterful effects.
The Terratech collection is therefore ideal for covering the floors and surfaces of homes which – although designed on modern principles – wish to highlight their deep bond with the architectural past and the styles of bygone days.
