Clays and Monolith for indoor and outdoor solutions that dialogue with nature
Hotel Seehof is an excellent example of an intelligent renovation project, perfectly integrated in natural surroundings. The family-run hotel was renovated and extended to a design the Noa firm so innovative that it garnered the honourable mention in the Hospitality categories at the prestigious The Plan Award.
The underlying themes of the project are the Alpine landscape and the architecture's deep bond to it. The hotel is at Naz-Sciaves, near Bressanone, on a plateau overlooking a mountain lake; the new project makes optimal use of the natural surroundings by making them an integral part of the building, through a series of original spatial and design solutions.
The exterior was designed to create a constant dialogue with the landscape; the new spa, built facing the lake, comprises steeply pitched green roofs, patios, relaxation areas surrounded by greenery and an infinity pool that seems to be part of the lake itself.
The interior also celebrates nature, placing it at the centre of the hospitality and wellbeing experience the hotel offers.
The linking motif is provided by the copper features - lamps, furnishings and fittings - inspired by the old copper pipes once used in the area's apple orchards. The copper was then combined with strictly local materials, such as rocks and wood, which merge with natural fabrics and textures to create a pleasant, modern interior, in perfect dialogue with the landscape.
The Marazzi Clays collection concrete/terracotta-effect stoneware, chosen for the floor of the restaurant and spa, blends perfectly with the materials chosen by the architects and with this specific context, with its authentic yet contemporary character. Next to the spa, the pool surround is paved with Monolith, the anti-slip stone effect stoneware perfect for wet environments such as pool edges.
