Cascina Merlata

Cascina Merlata is an innovative 900,000 sq m social housing project developed near the Expo 2015 area in Milan. The urban planning project, managed by prestigious architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, was developed according to high environmental sustainability standards. The Cascina Merlata residential project is the first entirely zero-emission district, served exclusively by renewable energy sources. Precisely for this reason, a ventilated wall was chosen to cover the large 23-metre-tall tower. Two Marazzi collections were used: Mystone Gris Fleury stone-look stoneware and SistemN high-performance technical stoneware. The designers alternated between two collections, combining 60x60, 30x120 and 60x120 cm Mystone Gris Fleury Grigio and 60x120 and 60x60 cm SistemN Grafite. The building’s entrance was also covered with a Marazzi collection; in this case, Blend, stone-look porcelain stoneware in Brown and in 20x120 and 30x120 cm sizes. Ph Leo Torri
