Treverk Outdoor for an elegant summer residence near Ragusa, Sicily
reading time: 2 minutes

Treverk Outdoor enabled us to maintain a link between the building and the surrounding natural landscape
The client wished to build a summer residence of several apartments on Sicily's Hyblaean coast, in a rural setting not far from Ragusa, with a sea view.
The spillover pool placed with the sea on the horizon was intended to eliminate the physical distance between the building's site and the sea itself, giving the impression that the pool and sea were a single, continuous body of water.
The use of Marazzi Treverk Outdoor porcelain tiles in Teak colour as the outdoor paving and indoor flooring of all three residential units was derived first and foremost from the wish to cover all the internal floors with a single wood-look material that would link up with the teak wood paths outside the building. On the one hand, this Marazzi collection conveys the sensation of walking on a wooden floor which does not become slippery even at the edge of the pool, while on the other it has none of the contraindications of the use of real wood outdoors.
The colour of the paving used successfully maintains the existing dialogue between the countryside, the building and the sea. The only ornamental feature used on the outside of the house is provided by the hand-decorated majolica tiles around the main doorway, chosen to give the building a touch of genuine Sicilian style.
