This award, assigned by the American Chambers of Commerce in Italy to organisations that have made major contributions to relations between Italy and the USA, is recognition for the integration with Mohawk and the investments made in Italy.
Marazzi and its parent company Mohawk have received the Transatlantic Award, assigned by the American Chambers of Commerce in Italy to business, management and cultural personalities who have made an outstanding contribution to developing transatlantic relations between Italy and the United States.
The Transatlantic Award reflects the success of the operation to integrate Marazzi, Italy’s number one ceramic tile brand, and the Mohawk Industries Group, a large American multinational listed on the New York Stock Exchange and world leader in coverings, with a turnover of more than 7.5 billion dollars.
The prestigious award was presented to Marazzi CEO Mauro Vandini by Vittorio Terzi and Simone Crolla, AmCham Chairman and Managing Director respectively, during a gala dinner held in Milan in the presence of the United States Ambassador John R. Phillips, as well as many other Italian and American officials.
Expressing his own thanks and those of Mohawk CEO Jeff Lorberbaum, Mauro Vandini underlined that the integration between the two groups is already yielding very satisfactory results, such as the major investment plan in Italy covering the expansion of the production lines and product technological innovation.
“I believe that this is an important sign of confidence,” Mauro Vandini stated, “not only in Marazzi and the Italian ceramics industry, which is one of the most important sectors in terms of Italy’s foreign trade balance, exporting almost 80% of output, but also in Italy overall as an industrial and manufacturing company.”
“Bringing together more than 600 people representing 92 of the largest multinationals, 45 of them American and 47 Italian, is a good sign of confidence and optimism concerning the future of our economy,” declared Simone Crolla, Managing Director of AmCham Italy. “The Transatlantic Awards are an important reference point for the Italian and American business community and bear witness to the friendship, cooperation and strong economic and political correlation between the two countries.”
