A return to the senses and to artisanship, to the imperfect beauty of handmade items. In keeping with the values of the Crogiolo range, the new ArtCraft porcelain stoneware collection aims to revive the traditions and the texture of terracotta through a wide variety of small sizes and decors that underline Marazzi’s research into industrial craftsmanship.
Six colours – from Argilla to Coccio and Sabbia – and a semi-matt white (Bianco) evoke the natural tones of the earth and reflect the shades of the landscapes from which they originate. The palette is also designed to dialogue with the new Slow, making it possible to mix and match the collections. The surfaces are matt and sandy, and display the typical shade variations formed when the material is fired. Six of the colours also come in three-dimensional structures with varyingly spaced stripes of different widths for a relief effect that adds dynamism and vibrancy to coverings.
The three small sized tiles (square 20×20 cm, hexagonal 21×18.2 cm and the brand new rectangular 5.3x30cm size) maintain the variety and style of the traditional sizes, giving the collection a modern yet familiar feel. Similarly, the craftsmanship of the tiles reinterprets, in a mass-produced and frost-proof product that is highly resistant to mechanical stress, the mottled movements of the artisan along the edges, the irregularity of the pad that spreads the material and the knife-cut joints.
The four ArtCraft decors – Segni, Bolli, Triangoli and Quadri – consist of familiar but contemporary motifs: from diamonds to ton sur ton circles, obtained by changing the finish, to more overtly decorative patterns which, in a continuous dialogue of colours, decors and textures, make it possible to combine the different variants of the collection in personal and original ways.
