On 27 September, the last day of Cersaie, in front of a large group of curious onlookers, a sparkling Paola Marella presented the prizes to the winners of the two Marazzi competitions on our stand, together with Marazzi CEO Mauro Vandini, Italy Sales Manager Andrea Cuoghi and Cer Manager Andrea Serri.

The winner of the ‘Il Tuo Spazio Marazzi vince Miami’ [‘Win a Trip to Miami with Your Marazzi Space’] was the ‘Marazzi + Barbara + Mario = casa’ (= home)  project, which won first place after fighting off a tough challenge from the homes by the sea which finished second and third.

Barbara and Mario, who will be flying to Miami, created a home tiled throughout with Marazzi materials interpreted in contemporary taste: Treverkatelier wood in the living and sleeping areas and the bathroom and the Cult and Spazio stone-look collections for the fitness and rumpus rooms.

The second and third prizes both went to two really amazing homes at Marina di Ragusa, in Sicily.A trip to Paris for 2 people was the prize awarded to Antonio Buscema, who finished second with his “Residenza di villeggiatura” (“Holiday Home”), with indoor floor coverings and outdoor pavings all in Treverkoutdoor wood-look stoneware in “cappuccino” shade, “recalling the typical colours of the building’s location”.

The third prize, three nights in Istanbul for 2 people, went to the “Residenza privata estiva” (“Summer Residences”) designed by the architect Giovanni Cavalieri. Here again, the material chosen was wood-look Treverkoutdoor, this time in teak colour, used for both the interior and outdoor areas of all three residential units, because it provided “a continuous dialogue between the countryside, the building and the sea”, as Giovanni himself explained during the prize-giving ceremony.

The 5-night holiday in Shanghai which formed the prize in the “Specifica Marazzi e vinci Shanghai” [“Specify Marazzi and Win a Trip to Shanghai”] competition, open to architecture professionals,  was awarded to the architect Paolo Mossa with his “design for refurbishment of the interior of the Stazione Centrale – Bari Palese Airport metropolitan rail link”, which used the Soho and Monolith porcelain stoneware collections. The jury chose this project both for its use of stoneware in locations with very heavy traffic and stress levels and for the laying of Marazzi stoneware in an arrangement which proivdes guidance on routes and pathways.
