Outdoor, large sizes and raised paving

Patios, balconies and terraces, gardens and yards are transformed to accommodate kitchen and living solutions, work and study spaces and wellbeing areas. The desire for open-air living has generated the need to create spaces that provide aesthetic continuity while ensuring excellent technical and performance features. In the new 120x120 cm size with 20 mm thickness, Marazzi outdoor slabs are ideal for fast, precise installation, also as a raised paving.

The desire for continuity of material and colour between indoors and outdoors is proving to be not merely a trend but rather a genuine cultural change. Increasingly, outdoor areas are being designed as an integral part of the architectural concept of our homes, in both new builds and renovation projects.

The new 120×120 cm size, in 20 mm thickness, meets the demand for large-size porcelain stoneware slabs even for outdoor use, with a striking degree of surface definition reinforced by the reduction in the joints needed during installation.

Surfaces created with Marazzi outdoor slabs are waterproof and also antislip thanks to their structured texture. Resistant to frost and fire, they maintain their colouring and performance over time.

With a thickness of 20 mm, also designed to guarantee high resistance to loads and other stresses, these porcelain stoneware surfaces are easy to install, meeting the needs of renovation projects or the creation of new outdoor spaces, for both homes and urban locations.

What’s more, the great variety of trims available ensures versatility during both design and installation for places such as swimming pools, porches and a vast assortment of architectural features, such as stairs, matching the surrounding paved surfaces.

The performance properties of outdoor large slabs also respond to the ever-growing demand for raised paving, created using a lightweight dry construction system consisting of a paving surface and a support structure. The practical, functional support structure enables rapid installation and the equally quick removal of the ceramic modules, speeding up the inspection, modification and maintenance of utility plants: the strength and beauty of Marazzi porcelain stoneware complete the benefits of this kind of system.

Extreme compositional and spatial flexibility goes hand-in-hand with a high degree of aesthetic customisation.

Slabs with 20 mm thickness are available with two different material inspirations, in four collections: Cementum20, also available in 60×120 cm size, which reproduces the appearance and properties of cast concrete, and three stone-effect porcelain stoneware collections in the Mystone range. They are Mystone Ardesia20, also available in 50×100 cm size, Mystone Limestone20, available in 60×120 and 80×80 cm sizes, and Mystone Ceppo di Gré20, also available in 80×80 cm size.

All outdoor solutions comply with a concept of sustainability centred on durability and low environmental impact.

Marazzi Group has assessed its products’ environmental impact throughout their life cycle, from extraction and processing of the raw materials through to the recycling of demolition spoil.

The findings of this LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) are published in the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) under the ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards and also contribute to the attainment of LEED certification credits in the “Materials and Resources” category.

The cost of raised and other paving solutions is low in proportion to the building’s life-cycle. They are an environment-friendly choice, thanks also to Marazzi’s manufacturing processes, which limit water and energy consumption and reuse 100% of waste materials within a closed production cycle.
