The innovative Marazzi ‘Soho’ ceramic module wall covering was selected as one of the best 100 projects in the Design Made in Italy category by the ‘Osservatorio Permanente del Design ADI’ (the industrial design council observatory). Soho, in addition to featuring in the ADI Design Index 2008 guide, will now also take part in the 22nd edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro awards to be held in Rome in 2011.
The ‘Soho’ module in porcelain stoneware was produced thanks to the application of a number of groundbreaking technologies developed and implemented by the Marazzi Group, which allow the product to move beyond the concept of two-dimensionality. The interlocking combination of complementary ceramic modules of different shapes and thicknesses, produced by water jet cutting, creates uneven surfaces of exceptional architectural quality, for covering indoor and outdoor walls. Produced in compliance with the principles of environmental eco-sustainability, thanks to its high recycled material content, Soho by Marazzi obtained certification under LEED, the international system for certifying the energy sustainability of buildings. What’s more, Soho has also obtained the Ecolabel, the European Union environmental quality label awarded to products which satisfy and comply with both environmental requirements and the rational use of energy and natural resources.
Soho by Marazzi has already won two other major design awards: Elle Decor International Design Award – the prize for the best design project of the year in the ‘wall covering’ category, presented by the 23 international publishers of the international home magazine – and Interior Design Best of Year Award– the prize for the best design project of the year in the ‘ceramic tiles’ category, presented by Interior Design, a leading American magazine in the furnishings and interior design sector.
These important awards are recognition of Marazzi's unwavering commitment and dedication to research and development. Quality, stylistic and technological innovation, environmental awareness, compliance with the principles of eco-sustainability and the development of new uses and applications for ceramics are the cornerstones of Marazzi's strategy and operations, enabling the Group to respond to the needs of modern architecture with exciting, innovative solutions.
