Marazzi London Design Competition: the winner is “Team Squires”

The unusual proportions of an original “total Grande” bathroom seduce the jury
The project developed by Squire & Partners - Laura Guerrero, Paula Benitez Ruiz and Mattia Tintori – was declared the winner of the “Marazzi London Design Competition”, the event organised last month in the Marazzi exhibition space in London by the Marazzi UK team.
Various London-based architecture firms took part in the competition in which participants were asked to develop a project using Grande, the Marazzi collection of large slabs. There were no particular limitations as to how to use the slabs, allowing the architecture firms to give free rein to their creativity.
The jury admitted that choosing a winner was a difficult process with the various projects, all very different from each other, using the large stoneware slabs in highly original ways.
In the end though the unusual, gigantic proportions of a bathroom completely tiled with Grande stone-effect slabs, in which everything - furnishings, fittings and people - has a kind of Lilliputian feel, created a spellbinding visual effect that succeeded in seducing the jury, a new spatial concept where the floor and wall tiles play a leading role without dominating.
Laura, Paula and Mattia won a short trip to Italy during which they will be able to visit the Marazzi headquarters in Sassuolo and enjoy a wonderful culinary tour of Emilia.
