Émilie Pichard of Studio 28 Architecture receives the prize trip to Expo Milan 2015.
A luxury hotel by the sea, on the heights of Biarritz in the Aquitaine region of France, redesigned using Marazzi ceramics and stoneware as floor and wall coverings: this is the project by Émilie Pichard of Studio 28 Architecture which won the “Il tuo Spazio Marazzi” (“Your Marazzi Space”) competition launched on the French market last year.
The Regina Biarritz is one of the iconic buildings of the city in the Atlantic Pyrenees, completed in 1907, and became known over the years as “le Petit Palace” thanks to its sophisticated clientele of influential businessmen, artists and famous designers.
Tasked with meeting the owners’ pressing need to restyle the hotel with luxury, elegance and simplicity, re-establishing the Regina Biarritz as the town’s leading establishment, the architect found the quality and characteristics the clients demanded in Marazzi ceramics and stoneware.
For the splendid bedrooms, she chose the Colorup gloss slimline ceramic wall covering for panels in bright colours, such as Ottanio and Arancio, and decorative solutions with floral motifs to cover whole walls.
Marazzi Evolutionmarble marble-look stoneware, in the decor that combines Bianco Calacatta and Nero Marquinia, was chosen for the hotel’s impressive foyer, with a geometrical pattern specially designed by the architect.
Émilie Pichard will now be able to plan the trip to Expo Milan 2015 which was the prize in the “Your Marazzi Space” on-line competition launched in France last year, and visit the more than 10 pavilions – including Palazzo Italia – where Marazzi ceramics and stoneware have been used.
