Grand Carpet and the Grande collection in an extra-large size star in the location designed by Matteo Cibic and Studio Blanco
The Tile Club was the name of a collective founded in the United States in the late 19th Century, bringing together artists, architects and creative spirits, who met regularly to hand-paint ceramics. Today, The Tile Club is a location created by Marazzi in the heart of Milan for lovers of ceramics and professionals from the industry.
The creative brainchild of Matteo Cibic in association with Studio Blanco, The Tile Club is the project presented by Marazzi during Milan Design Week, installed on the basement floor of the showroom on Via Borgogna in Milan.
The Tile Club comprises five rooms, a lobby, a central lounge, a café, a wunderkammer containing the new Grande collection stoneware tiles in large chests, and a bistro. The interior design combines vintage inspirations from the Fifties and references to Wes Anderson's set designs, welcoming visitors in a place which seems to belong to no particular time, perfectly reflecting Matteo Cibic's dreamlike, ironic vision.
The key features of the interiors are Marazzi porcelain stoneware slabs, used in an extremely creative way: thanks to water-jet slab cutting, the ceramic material provides a precision covering not only for walls and floors but also for furniture and ornamental features, designed specifically for the occasion.
The Tile Club also displays the latest novelties from Marazzi: Grand Carpet, designed by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel and a star of Cersaie 2017, is used to cover the whole of the floors, walls, archways and furnishings of the café and the wunderkammer, including the chests that contain the new Grande collection stoneware tiles in a miniature size.
Grande is the latest innovation from Marazzi: very large slabs, of up to 162x324 cm, in a variety of looks and finishes: stone, polished and satiny marbles, iridescent metals and solid colours.
The Tile Club opened to coincide with Milan Design Week but will be open to visitors until June. Address: Marazzi Showroom Via Borgogna 2, Milan.
