Marazzi Group has always been an advocate for an industry able to limit consumption of natural resources and reduce environmental impact through controlled waste management and the reuse of industrial wastewater.
Ceramics are manufactured in a closed cycle, as all production scrap, process water and the heat generated in a number of phases are recovered.
Unfired and fired production scrap is not sent to landfill but is 100% reused in the production process, thus reducing consumption of natural resources. This practice also helps to cut waste and pollutant discharges by enabling the use of less natural gas and lower CO2 emissions.
Unfired scrap is returned directly to the production cycle, while fired scrap is processed to reduce its size and then fed back into the body mix preparation phase.
Thanks to a careful management process, the company also recovers 100% of wastewater from tile production, avoiding the discharge of industrial effluent into watercourses or the sewage system. The industrial wastewater recycling rate actually reaches 120%, since it also includes water from other companies in the industry.
The Italian ceramics production process has always been grounded in environmental sustainability. Over the years, the industry has combined outstanding quality levels with major innovations, intended to minimise waste.
