Marazzi Engineering can supply a wide range of materials for the top surface of the floor:
- Porcelain stoneware: the best material for the finishing of the panels. The particularly hardwearing surface and superior technical specifications of all Marazzi porcelain stoneware tiles make them perfect for use even in high-traffic areas (such as airports, banks, shops, industry and hospitals) as well as for outdoor floors. The uniform colouring throughout the tile’s body gives this material its exceptional visual impact. Marazzi porcelain stoneware responds well to two the moulding, water absorption and to the testing of compliance to physical and chemical parameters standards. The considerable variety in sizes provided by the raised floor’s modular system is particularly interesting from a creative standpoint.
- Resilient materials: PVC, linoleum, rubber. Resilience increases the amount of sound the raised floor absorbs;rubber offers excellent resistance to fire and chemicals. PVC coverings can be used to create some interesting looks: excellent quality designs and reproduction of the textures of wood or stone using “graphic printing”.
- High-pressure laminated. In addition to its exceptional resistance to chemicals and aging, laminate is mainly chosen for its high resistance to wear from foot traffic.
- Stone materials: natural (stone, marble, granite, and travertine) or synthetic. Natural materials are chosen for their visual impact and are cut by splitting or sawing them into the shapes required for the raised floor. Synthetic materials are made in an industrial process involving the grinding, polymerisation and firing of natural stone, resulting in a product whose physical and mechanical performance is often superior to natural stone itself.
- Natural wood, fitted in different patterns like parquet (such as straight forward, chequerboard or herringbone pattern). The choice of wood is vital when this material is used based on the categories indicated in the decree, along with the surface finish that may include varnish, oil or processing with heat.
The structure of a Marazzi Engineering raised floor offers great versatility in the sizes and textures available; non standard sizes can also be used, a factor that gives architects and designers ample scope for finding the best solution. The standard market size (60x60 cm) can be split to cater for any specific requirements of the environment so the floor can be designed at will. Larger sizes are also available today, such as 60x120 cm, helping to make the looks of raised flooring comparable to a floor fitted with adhesive. The modern ceramic technologies of the engraving and water jet cutting of materials can also be applied to the floor so that designers have total freedom for any kind of customisation: from panels with logos or inserts with other materials and different finishes to patterns created by combining different panels.

Marazzi Engineering has tested and approved a new lines of outdoor raised flooring: the line Stone, solution that offers slabs of natural stone, such Ardesia Cinza, Ardesia Verde, Pietra della Lissinia, all in 50x50 cm size.
